On my way home from campus on Friday afternoon I caught a peculiar site: five street cleaners storming down Jackson Blvd. They were headed to clean up after 100,000 people marched for immigrant rights. Nearly all of the protestors that I saw (a couple hundred) appeared to be hispanic, many waving Mexican and American flags.
I strongly support legal immigration, and think that we should increase the number of people who can legally immigrate. However I believe that we also need to have better enforcement against illegal immigration (which is what they were protesting). There must be some sort of documentation on how many people are coming and going (and who these people are). Laws should be changed, they shouldn't be broken.
