Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Dr. SeussTheodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr Seuss, was born today in 1904. He is easily my favorite children's author, most likely because I have very clear memories of hearing his stories read aloud to me by my parents.

Dr. Seuss' books are perfectly designed to be read to children, as they are littered with tongue twisting verses and lyrical gems. For example, here's a quick snippet from "Horton Hears a Who!":

All that late afternoon and far into the night
That black-bottomed bird flapped his wings in fast flight,
While Horton chased after, with groans, over stones
That tattered his toenails and battered his bones,
And begged, “Please don’t harm all my little folks, who
Have as much right to live as us bigger folk do!”

A few Seuss stories you should own/read:
