Strange Bubbling Watermelon

I've documented some weird food issues before (e.g. the Dr. Pepper incident and the black bean incident). Turns out our watermelons are strange too:

This particular melon was purchased 4 days before the video was shot, and we ate it's brother melon (they come in two packs) the previous day with no incident (other than that alien thingy jumping out of my stomach). Any ideas on whats going on here?

Haha - these are from Costco! I can't stop shopping there... where else can I buy an entire year's worth of meatballs and macaroni?

You had a melon that got a bacterial or fungal injection... It was basically fermenting and the pressure (gas release) made the bubbling happen...

Yeah, I figured as much (though aliens would have been cooler). Was just surprised by how much gas/pressure was being generated by their biological processes. Impressive.
