Speckled Praying Mantis
Looks like the baby praying mantis (manti?) that we found in our garage finally grew up (ok, technically these must be their children since those babies were from 2008, but I digress).
I counted five mantis in our yard on Tuesday. Here are two of the better pictures I was able to capture. Click for closer view.

Tea Party Leader on Anderson Cooper
"Tea Party" leader Mark Williams was on CNN"s Anderson Cooper 360 yesterday:
You can see some of the offensive rally signs they are referring to on Huffington Post (which is a far-left blog, so expect heavy bias).
"Tea Party" people are confusing and frustrating to me. Maybe they have something interesting to say, or maybe they have some novel approach to the existing/looming health care problem. But I don't see anything at this protest except hate and willful ignorance.
Fun-Filled Weekend: Sunday
We rounded out our "full" weekend with a return to the fall festival. Libby loved the bounce houses (as expected) and enjoying seeing the small group of animals available for petting (three bunnies, two goats, one goose, a horse, and a pony).
- Bouncing in the bounce house
- Milking a "practice" cow
- Enjoying a ball-filled bounce house
Fun-Filled Weekend: Saturday Night
The Pucci family (and friend Jeff) stopped by on Saturday for some BBQ and good times. The night was nice and chill - after watching the end of a football game we ate BBQ. Libby and Griffin then took a bath together, and after they went to sleep Shannon graciously offered to stay in while Julia, Ben, Jeff, and I all walked to a nearby pub. It was so nice to spend and evening with Ben and Julia; they are a wonderful couple and such fun!
I only have two pictures worth posting - you can see more at Pucci's site:
- Griffin and Libby swinging
- In the tub, goofing off
Fun-Filled Weekend: Friday + Saturday Morning
We had a wonderfully full house this past weekend - I loved it! On Friday Jorie, Emerson, Delanie, Alison, and Ethan all came over; they spent the night and then all of us went to the local Fall Festival on Saturday morning.
- Eating eggs for breakfast
- Playing on the playground
- Waiting for the parade
- Riding the train
- Will be much scarier 14 years from now
- Car spotting while the moms look in a store
