I recently came across a very well done video concerning Creationism vs. Evolution (click on the "watch" menu at the top).

The animations and imagery in all of their videos are fantastic;incredibly beautiful no matter what you believe. I suggest you watch then in order - creationism, evolution, then duality. Let me know if you notice anything familiar.

One reason is that I occasionally stumble upon little things that make me giggle, then smile, and then waste 10 minutes doing absolutely nothing. Today I have two such wonderfully quirky things to share with you:

The first is Acrobots, a hypnotic time drain. You control small three-armed "acrobots" as they gracefully try to keep each other aloft. There's not much point to it - and yet I still found it quite enthralling.

The second one, Screamin' Beans, makes me laugh hysterically... but I'm not sure why. You'll want to mute your sound if there are other people around. Just keep clicking on things - you'll see what happens! I love the super saiyan reference at the end too!

The only problem? The campus is swarming with zombies. Honestly, this is why regular broadcast television is on the way out: look how weird and funny shows get when they don't worry about market share and political correctness.

On a side note, as I only have about 1 month left before I am completely done with my school work, thesis writing has switched into high gear. From now until July 7th I will include my current thesis word count (twc) as motivation to stop posting and continue writing. :)

I still get a kick out of the sheer lunacy of it all, not to mention all the hard work that must have gone into producing this 2 minute segment.

For those who don't know: Animaniacs was an animated series on the WB which, in addition to being juvenile, was usually rather clever and funny. Popular characters included Pinky and the Brain and Yakko, Wakko, and Dot.

It is a short clip from the extended directors cut of "What the *Bleep* Do We Know", which was a movie that tried to present science as religion (instead of the Intelligent Design approach of presenting religion as science).

For the most part this clip stays true to science. Near the end, when they are talking about a "mysterious observer" and the electron "knowing it is being watched", I can see where science has taken a back seat to crafting an interesting story. In reality, since we can't just set up a video camera to observe these incredibly small particles/waves, the act of observing is not as passive as they describe. Reminds me of that old physics joke:

Heisenberg was driving down the Autobahn whereupon he was pulled over by a policeman. The policeman asked, "Do you know how fast you were going back there?" Heisenberg replied, "No, but I know where I am."

For those of you who don't get it google Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. Simply put:
