I love the internet - it is often funny and weird in a wonderfully awkward way.

Man Babies is a perfect example. The premise is simple: edit an image to switch the heads of men and their children. The results, however, are oddly unsettling... yet I can't look away!

Last Sunday we went to a party to celebrate Elin's first birthday. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon: eating cake, spending time with other parents, and watching all of our children play well together. As you can probably guess my pictures don't hold a candle to the ones that Elin's father takes, but here they are anyway:

I ran across some beautiful body art the other day and wanted to share it with you. Each picture depicts a sign of the zodiac using body paint, a nude women, and a lot of interesting poses. I particularly like the Cancer and Scorpio signs - very innovative!

The first picture is a great example of how Libby likes to suck on her two fore fingers instead of the more traditional thumb. The second picture is just a fun moment that captures a little bit of the joy she brings into our lives... man, she is amazing to us!

Where The Tax Money Goes

Mibi strikes again with some super-sweet graphics of our nation's budget. You can download the 2007 and 2008 versions directly, but I must warn you they are massive.

Assuming that the defense needs of our country have changed dramatically over the past couple decades I see a LOT of fat that could be cut from military spending. Why the hell are we spending billions of dollars on things like the F-22A Raptor? It seems to me that the enemies we must now defend against are all human-based: terrorists, environmental imbalance, and ignorance. Wouldn't this money be better spent on things like hiring translators, funding research, or improving schools?

On a side note, if you've been reading this blog for a while you might remember that I have posted about Mibi's work before, when the latest graph depicted the 2004 budget.

Sunday Dinner with Family

Two Sundays ago my parents and Jeff, Amy, and Calvin were able to stop by for a nice dinner. It was great to see everyone and to spend some time with family. Hopefully get togethers like this will become (at least) a monthly event.

Wii Lunch

It is no secret that I work with a bunch of geeks; it's probably why I fit in so well. About a week ago us geeks decided that just eating lunch is a bit boring - so we headed over to a colleague's house to play a few rounds of Nintendo Wii sports.

There were eight of us, so while four people ate their lunches the other four could play any of a number of games. Boxing was a particular favorite.

As much as I usually enjoy my job it was really difficult to leave the Wii. I need to find a way to persuade Shannon to get one of these "for Libby" when she is old enough - it's just too damn fun!

Nathaniel Edmunds Website

It just occurred to me that I haven't yet posted about a big web development project that I just wrapped up: NathanielEdmunds.com. Nathaniel Edmunds is a brother-sister wedding photography team in the Indianapolis area. They regularly travel all over the midwest shooting weddings, and have often been brought along to destination weddings.

Nate is the perfect wedding photographer, able to capture moments without you even knowing he's there. He's young and fun and just a damn good person. And Tiffany is also an extraordinary person, able to coordinate and organize everything from the initial concept meeting to the final album design (and everything in between). Shannon and I highly recommend their services.
