It is no secret that I work with a bunch of geeks; it’s probably why I fit in so well. About a week ago us geeks decided that just eating lunch is a bit boring - so we headed over to a colleague’s house to play a few rounds of Nintendo Wii sports.
There were eight of us, so while four people ate their lunches the other four could play any of a number of games. Boxing was a particular favorite.
As much as I usually enjoy my job it was really difficult to leave the Wii. I need to find a way to persuade Shannon to get one of these “for Libby” when she is old enough - it’s just too damn fun!

It just occurred to me that I haven’t yet posted about a big web development project that I just wrapped up: NathanielEdmunds.com. Nathaniel Edmunds is a brother-sister wedding photography team in the Indianapolis area. They regularly travel all over the midwest shooting weddings, and have often been brought along to destination weddings.
Nate is the perfect wedding photographer, able to capture moments without you even knowing he’s there. He’s young and fun and just a damn good person. And Tiffany is also an extraordinary person, able to coordinate and organize everything from the initial concept meeting to the final album design (and everything in between). Shannon and I highly recommend their services.

At 6:43am this morning Shannon gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl! The baby was delivered naturally at 8 pounds, 6 ounces and is 21 inches long. No name has been chosen yet (we’re working on it!).
Shannon’s water broke around midnight on Thursday, followed by several hours of painful contractions. She finally received an epidural around 3:45am, reluctantly at first because we did not think delivery was as close as it was. We both were able to sleep for a little less than an hour before doing a final hour and a half of pushing.
The end result is nothing short of a miracle.
UPDATE: Her name is Elizabeth Claire Barron, and we’re going to call her Libby! ![]()

No, this is not our new baby. That one is still waiting for his/her grand entrance (we’ve decided that it has decided to wait until it is old enough to just crawl out of the womb).
The picture is of Reese, daughter of our good friends Jeff and Caroline (you might remember her from before). The three of them braved an icy winter evening to join us for dinner a couple days ago. It was good to see them, and great to see how much Reese has grown since the last time we saw her!
Nathaniel Edmunds photography has captured some pregnancy photos of us, and I think they turned out quite good.
Is it just me, or am I posing a little too much like David Copperfield?
“I have always had the dream to make a baby appear out of thin air, and today I am bringing that dream to life. Before your very eyes I will magically make a baby come out of this beautiful woman you see standing here in front of you… it’s MAGIC!” (slowly moves hand in front of belly while looking deep into the audience’s eyes)
On January 26th people from Perth, Australia gathered on a local beach to watch some amazing natural and man-made fireworks:

I’m working on a special website that will launch within a couple weeks - I’ll post here when it does - but between work and coding I found myself searching through some boxes in the basement. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but I did find this gigantic class portrait of my graduating class. Just thought I would share:
I remember the camera they used to take this photograph: it operated by slowly scanning over the group, so if you moved too quickly the result would be a blur. Don’t we all look just thrilled?
I just ran across this fun face recognition tool that shows which celebrities you look most like. Before using the tool you need to create an account, but it’s free and they don’t appear to check most of the fields (so put whatever).
Nick Lachey was one of the top males that it claims I am most similar to. I only bring this up because in the past my wife has (generously) claimed that I resemble him in the face - so perhaps the tool is somewhat accurate.

Jeff and Caroline recently had a beautiful baby daughter, born on Saturday November 4th, named Reese Elizabeth. Here are some (absolutely adorable) pictures of her that Jeff shared with me - and now I’m sharing with you. Enjoy!
We visited the happy couple recently; mom, dad, and baby are all doing well and have adjusted to life as parents like pros.
