Perfect Girls Day

I currently have six girls (most from our neighborhood) playing a constantly evolving game of "Barbie" in our house. At times they are pretending to be at the beach, other times it sounds like they are negotiating a delicate middle east peace treaty (you and Libby can share this horse, until Madeline is done with her boots, then she can give them to Grace):

I am greatly enjoying the whole experience - makes me feel like the dad in "Cheaper by the Dozen". Wish we could support a nice half dozen kids of our own (if only they come out talking, sleeping through the night, and potty trained .

Kids in our 'hood drew a picture or wrote something fun on the sign to celebrate Cooper coming home. It was really cute. We have great neighbors - thanks everyone!

Good St. Patrick’s Day

It was a good St. Patrick's Day. I went over to Mikey's house to play Guitar Hero, drink Guinness, and eventually end up at the bar down the street eating chicken nachos (Shannon and Libby were out of town). Cheers!

All About Mie-Mie: Sassy Jackets

As many of you probably know I develop websites as a fun side project. A website that I created just launched a few weeks back and I wanted to share it with you.

The website is an online store called "It's All About Mie-Mie". I created it for a neighbor's mother who has these fabulous jackets. They were selling very well at various local craft fairs so she decided to make the big leap to online retail. The jackets have fun names like "I'm Too Sexy For This Jacket" and "Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner".

This was my first time creating a store from scratch, and overall it was a fun and interesting project to work on.

Annual “Running of the Kids” Easter Egg Gathering

Every year our neighborhood, like many I would imagine, packs easter eggs full of candy and scatters them around for the kids to grab. I captured the "running of the kids":

They release the younger kids first (to give them a chance), and as you can see Libby was the first one out on the field. I'm glad her mommy was there with her - would have been trampled otherwise .

Don't be fooled by their apparent calm demeanor. Immediately after this picture was taken the evening returned to it's normal candy-induced chaos.

Kid Cornhole

Our neighborhood rocks. There are easily 25 kids living just in the houses you can see from our front yard, so you can imagine the high volume of creative things that the kids can dream up.

Try to follow me through the haze of childhood reasoning as I describe what evolved to become "Kid Cornhole" - here is a bulleted list in chronological order:

At some point on Saturday morning a large cardboard box was found
Neighborhood kids began to take turns playing in the box
Two holes were cut in the box so kids could peek through
Tennis balls were found
A kid stuck his head through a hole in the box and other kids tried to hit it with a tennis ball
Hilarity ensued as other kids joined the fun and actually lined up to be "in the box" while others took pot-shots at their faces

Incredible what you can do with a cardboard box and some balls (both literally and, for those who stuck their heads through, metaphorically).
