Assassin bugs are awesome predators. Similar to the giant water bug, all of the nearly 3,000 species of assassin bug have a powerful tubelike rostrum (aka “tube of death”, as I fancy it should be called) that is used to pierce prey.

An Assassin bug attacks it’s prey quickly and efficiently, gripping the unsuspecting bug with it’s sticky forearms and deftly sliding it’s rostrum into the victim. Using the strawlike rostrum now inserted deep into it’s victim the assassin pumps the bug full of venomous digestive fluid that instantly begins to dissolve tissue and organs. Within seconds the hapless prey is dead and the assassin can slurp back the contents of the bug as if it were a yummy bug-flavored milkshake.

Just before bath tonight I was trying to take a video of Libby, but all she wanted to do was look at the camera. Here you can see her plop down in my lap and patiently wait for me to show her pictures off the camera:

Libby Mesmerized by The Wiggles

Libby doesn’t get to watch much television (hey we don’t have cable, so maybe that has something to do with it), so when we do pop in a DVD you can bet dollars to dimes she will focus all of her attention on it:

I love how she is studying their every move, as if it’s critical information that she must memorize, and how she gives me a quick “not now” smirk when I tap her on the shoulder.

For the record, almost all of the songs by The Wiggles are incredibly catchy. “Fruit Salad” will be in my head for the next two days… yummy yummy.

Eating Mashed Potatoes with a Fork

Libby just LOVES mashed potatoes. I like them too, because we can mix in chicken and other things she doesn’t particularly like to eat alone and the whole kabob goes down the hatch.

You can see she is getting better with the fork, but still uses her hands from time to time.

New Album: Caleb’s 1st Birthday Party

Last Sunday was gorgeous. We spent a few hours in the afternoon at a friend’s house celebrating their son’s 1st birthday party. They had baby pools setup and everything, which was great fun in the hot sun. You can view the album here.

New Furniture

The $5 garage sale television stand that has proudly sat in our family room for almost 3 years has been retired. In it’s place is this monstrously beautiful television mansion:

Naturally Libby was compelled to sit inside this new behemoth for about 10 minutes for a closer inspection.
